Who runs AmPainSoc
AmPainSoc is an independent editorial blog covering athletic performance, injury prevention, recovery, and the social side of sport. The site is run by Martin Wood, a long-time recreational endurance athlete (semi-marathon, trail running, strength training) with a decade of hands-on experience reading training research, testing protocols on himself, and comparing notes with coaches, physiotherapists, and other runners.
I’m not a doctor, a registered dietitian, or a certified strength coach. I’m a curious amateur who reads the primary literature, interviews specialists when I can, and shares what seems to work — and what doesn’t — in plain language. Every article on this site reflects that perspective.
Editorial process & AI disclosure
Parts of the AmPainSoc archive were drafted with the help of large language models between 2024 and 2025. Those early pieces are currently being re-reviewed: posts that don’t meet our editorial bar are being consolidated, rewritten with sourced citations, or removed. New articles published from 2026 onwards are written by a human first, edited by a human, and fact-checked against primary sources (peer-reviewed studies, public-health agencies, reputable coaches) before going live.
When we cite a study, we link it. When we quote a professional, we name them and verify the quote. When we recommend a product, we tell you whether the link is affiliate or not. If you spot an error, email us (see below) — we correct mistakes in public, with a dated “Correction” note at the bottom of the affected post.

Corrections policy
We correct factual errors as soon as we’re aware of them. Corrections are dated and visible at the bottom of the original article — we never silently rewrite published content. To report an error, email corrections@ampainsoc.org with the URL and a short description.
