Binghamton, NY, Haworth Medical Press, Vol. 1, No. 1, 2005. ISSN 1543-7698 annual individual subscription $60. This new journal reflects the growing body of research and clinical care for patients with neuropathic pain syndromes and is led by a strong editorial board, first-class associate and section editors, and editor in chief Howard S. Smith. The journal’s goals are to advance research, education, and knowledge of neuropathic pain and symptom palliation, encourage international collaboration, develop educational materials for students of pain management, and serve as a focal point for discussions and debates about neuropathic pain and its treatment. The first issue contains excellent articles that are broad in scope, ranging from basic science to clinical observations. The success of a journal depends upon its ability to publish quality articles about topics that are not adequately represented in existing publications. We will watch this journal with interest—it lacks an affiliation with an existing society and building an adequate subscription list will be difficult. Dr. Loeser is Professor of Neurological Surgery and Anesthesiology at the University of Washington in Seattle. |
