AMERICAN PAIN SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2006-07 OFFICERS

SAN ANTONIO, May 6, 2006 – The American Pain Society today announced its officers for 2006-07.

The new APS President is Judith A. Paice, PhD, RN, FAAN, director, cancer pain program and research professor of medicine, Division of Hematology-Oncology, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. She succeeds Dennis C. Turk, PhD, John and Emma Bonica Professor of Anesthesiology and Pain Research at the University of Washington School of Medicine. Turk stays on the APS Board of Directors as Immediate Past President.

Paice previously served as APS Secretary and will be succeeded by Lonnie Zeltzer, MD, professor of pediatrics, anesthesiology, psychiatry and behavioral sciences at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA and director of the pediatric pain program at UCLA’s Mattel Children’s Hospital

Members of the APS Board of Directors elected for three year terms are:

  • Srinivasa Raja, MD, professor of anesthesiology, John Hopkins University
  • George Wilcox, PhD, professor, Department of Neuroscience, University of Minnesota
  • David Williams, PhD, associate professor of medicine, University of Michigan.
