CE Information

The APS 27th Annual Scientific Meeting will offer continuing education credit for physicians, psychologists, nurses, and pharmacists. Credit will be awarded for those sessions attended and evaluated. Participants will receive their continuing education certificates immediately after they submit their evaluations online.

Physicians

APS is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

APS designates this continuing medical education activity for a maximum of 13.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits.™

Physicians should claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Psychologists

APS is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. APS maintains responsibility for the program and its content. This activity has been designated for a maximum of 13.5 hours of CE credit for psychologists for sessions attended and evaluated.

Nurses

The American Pain Society is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Nurses can earn (1) contact hour for every 60 minutes of educational time and must complete an evaluation for each session attended in order to receive credit. This activity has been designated for a maximum of 13.5 contact hours.

Pharmacists

The American Pain Society is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education as a provider of continuing pharmacy education. Up to 10.5 credit hours (1.05 CEUs) will be awarded and a statement of credit provided upon submission of a completed evaluation.

Paperless Meeting

Speakers’ Presentations and Handout Materials

Registrants will be able to access and view the handout materials online before the annual meeting. APS will not print a paper syllabus of speakers’ handouts. Attendees will be able to print individual handouts beginning mid-April 2008.

APS is excited to offer annual meeting attendees complimentary online access to the audio recordings and slide presentations of speakers’ lectures from the meeting. After the meeting, the recordings will be made available to meeting registrants for a limited time as an additional resource. The online recordings will be available on the APS Web site beginning May 30, 2008. Meeting registrants will receive an e-mail on or before May 30 with a unique password and instructions about how to access the online recordings.

Program Evaluation Tool

APS offers its meeting evaluation in an online format. Meeting registrants will receive a unique password and instructions via e-mail on how to access the online evaluation before they arrive in Tampa. The online evaluation can be completed during the meeting or once attendees have returned home. Participants will receive their continuing education certificate immediately when they submit their evaluations online. We encourage all attendees to complete this evaluation regardless of whether or not they are seeking continuing education credits.
